The existing Comprehensive Plan identifies privately owned agricultural and forest lands of long-term commercial significance, so these lands can be protected if the County chooses to do so. Most of these lands are currently taxed as "Open Space" (turquoise.) Under the proposed Comp Plan, commercially significant agricultural and forest lands are identified as occurring only on public (resource) lands. All privately owned agricultural and forest lands would be re-designated as RURAL. On this Map, Rural High Density lands are shown in hot pink. They are 1 to 5 acre minimum lot sizes. Notice that these lands border most of our county roads. Rural Low Density lands are shown in turquoise, and will be from 5 to 20 acre minimums.
